After you get settled into your new Columbus home, you’ll likely be excited to explore your new area. Here, we’ve compiled a list of four day-long trips you can take to get to know just some of what Ohio offers.
1. Young’s Jersey Dairy–6880 Springfield Xenia Rd., Yellow Springs, OH 45387
Go miniature golfing, hit the driving range, feed some incredibly friendly goats, and enjoy the best ice cream and cheese curds you’ll ever have when you take the time to visit Young’s Jersey Dairy. The quaint yet expansive shop is the perfect spot for little ones and adults alike. Take some time to visit the town of Yellow Springs after you enjoy Young’s–a stroll on the bike path is the perfect way to get your energy back up after enjoying a buckeye sundae.
2. Hocking Hills State Park–19852 OH-664, Logan, OH 43138
Get ready to take a step back in time as you enter the majestic Hocking Hills State Park, where you’ll be able to imagine that you’re roaming the woods in prehistoric times. Hocking Hills State Park, located in southeastern Ohio, has won national and international acclaim. Its towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and deep, hemlock-shaded gorges are breathtaking throughout the year. If you go during chilly months, be careful–the area’s beautiful icicles and frozen waterways can create slippery conditions. If you head to the site with little ones in the summer, pack a change of clothes as they’ll love splashing in the cool, shallow waters of the park.
3. Kings Island Amusement Park–6300 Kings Island Dr., Mason, OH 45040
Whether you’re in the mood to get wild on out-of-this-world roller coasters or to relax in the water park’s lazy river, you’ll love the memories you create with your family at Kings Island. If you’re headed to the park this fall, check out the Halloween Haunt, when the park is loaded with scary attractions that will keep you on your toes.
4. The National Museum of the US Air Force–1100 Spaatz St., Dayton, OH 45433
Whether you’ve got a tiny Buzz Aldrin on your hands or you’re interested in exploring the history of flight, the National Museum of the US Air Force is well worth the hour-long drive from Columbus. The National Museum of the US Air Force is the world’s oldest and largest aviation museum. You’ll find information about how the Wright brothers developed aviation, war relics, and more than 350 missiles and aircraft on display (you’ll even be able to walk through some of them). Don’t miss the area dedicated to space flight, where you’ll be able to see a real shuttle up-close. This thrilling museum allows you to explore aviation’s past, present, and future all in one place.
