If relocating to Columbus, OH, is in your near future, you have much to look forward to! The city has things to do no matter what time of year. The winter season is ideal for some activities. We have compiled a list of some of the best winter and holiday celebrations in and around Columbus, Ohio.

    Winterfest

Even if snow falls and the temperature drops, bundle up and head to Bicentennial Park for Winterfest. This fun weekend event brings the city together for a day filled with live music, local brews, and a fantastic array of food trucks. And if it’s freezing out, you’ll especially enjoy the selection of warm seasonal beverages.

    Dickens of a Christmas

The Ohio History Village may be closed for the winter, but it opens on December weekends for an extra-special celebration: A Dickens of a Christmas! Straight out of a Charles Dickens novel, you’ll want to bring your camera to document sightings of Ebeneezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, St. Nick, and more: live music, dancing, refreshments, and a vendor village round out the seasonal fun.

    Wildlights: Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

Millions of twinkling lights? Animatronic — and real — animals? Musical light shows? It can only be Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This annual, family-friendly event transforms the zoo and aquarium into a magical wonderland of sparkling lights. The event runs from mid-November through the first week of January, Thursdays through Sundays.

    Holidays at Adena

Travel back 200 years ago, to be exact, and experience the holidays at Adena Mansion and Gardens. On several December weekends, the property will open for special tours of the stunning home and grounds, all decorated in 1800s Yuletide style. Enjoy cookies and mulled cider, horse and carriage rides, craft activities for children, and live musical performances. Replicas of toys and other objects from the 19th century will be for sale at the visitor’s center.

Holiday Happenings at Easton Town Center

Easton Town Center brings the holidays to life with events from Thanksgiving through December. Gather at the Town Square for live performances throughout the day. Just look for the 56-foot-tall tree (it’s easy to find). Then, ride the Easton Express, all decked out with sparkling lights. And don’t miss the chance to dine or relax in an “icy” Egg-loo; these fun spots offer a cozy respite from the chill and a place to cuddle up with hot cocoa in hand.

    Palace Theater

From November through January, the Palace Theater presents a schedule that’s absolutely loaded with holiday and seasonal events. Annual traditions include The Nutcracker ballet, the Columbus Symphony’s Holiday Pops, the Hip Hop Nutcracker, and a number of other seasonal shows.
